The Positions

Three roles, one committee

Every committee runs on its staff. We're hiring for three roles, each with its own place in the room — whether you want to facilitate debate, build a crisis arc, or keep communication flowing. Pick the one that fits how you like to work.

Beginner-friendly welcome

Moderators

The voice that keeps debate moving — running the speakers' list, motions, and voting procedures impartially.

Before Conference

  • Attend Rules of Procedure training to moderate the flow of debate with confidence.
  • Prepare a moderator toolkit for the conference — a character or country list, moderating software, or a document to track motions.
  • Liaise with the Committee Director to meet content deadlines and attend training sessions.
  • Attend Equity training and stay well-versed in spotting equity violations.
  • Assist in writing and planning background guides, if requested by the Director.

During Conference

  • Moderate the flow of debate — keeping track of speaking times, managing the speakers' list, and chairing discussion impartially.
  • Maintain a fair, balanced environment so every delegate has the chance to speak and the committee stays on agenda.
  • Manage motions, points of order, and voting procedures for a smooth, efficient debate, always keeping equity in mind.
  • Build strong relationships with delegates, stay well-versed in committee content, and help answer questions from delegates and staff.
  • Be present for the entirety of the conference.
Before the conference
2 hrs / week
(hours may vary with workload)
During the conference
21 hrs total
7 hrs per day, may vary
Preferred qualities
Strong public speaking and the ability to command a large room through debate. Good moderators can spot equity issues and feel comfortable addressing them with delegates, and are knowledgeable about Rules of Procedure, or confident they can adhere to it during session.
Beginner-friendly welcome

Crisis Analysts

The engine of the backroom — building the mechanics, directives, and story arcs that drive a crisis committee.

Before Conference

  • Write and plan committee crisis mechanics and arcs alongside the Crisis Manager and the Director.
  • Liaise with the Committee Director to meet content deadlines and attend training sessions.
  • Attend backroom and Equity training.

During Conference

  • Support all elements of backroom activity — crisis planning, directive responses, mechanics, and drafting and presenting crisis updates.
  • Facilitate communication among the Crisis Analysts and with the Director in the front room.
  • Keep up with committee arcs and mechanics across every session.
  • Help carry out the Director and Crisis Manager's vision, making sure delegates' actions have meaningful consequences.
  • Be present for the entirety of the conference.

Preferred qualities
A strong interest in crisis committee topics and the ability to solve problems and respond creatively. Crisis Analyst is a very beginner-friendly position — what matters is genuine interest in the committee and the drive to bring it to life.
Beginner-friendly welcome

Logistics Officers

The communication line of the room — screening and passing notes between delegates, the dais, and the backroom.

Before Conference

  • Liaise with the Committee Director to meet content deadlines.
  • Attend training and equity sessions as needed.

During Conference

  • Screen all notes sent by delegates throughout the conference, passing them on to another delegate or the backroom once reviewed.
  • Facilitate smooth communication between delegates and the dais.
  • Assist the Committee Director in screening resolutions, public directives, and speeches when needed.
  • Stay attentive to potential equity concerns when handling delegate communications.
  • Be present for the entirety of the conference.
