About the Conference

What is UTMUN?

A premier academic experience that immerses delegates of every background and experience level in the art of diplomacy and international affairs.

Each February, delegates take on the foreign policy of a UN member state within a committee or national body, debating, negotiating, and drafting resolutions to the world’s most pressing crises. Delegates arrive from across Canada and around the world, whether attending their tenth conference or their very first.

UTMUN is staffed exclusively by students of the University of Toronto, Canada’s most prestigious post-secondary institution. Our committees span traditional UN agencies, regional bodies, corporate boardrooms, and historical crises, so there is a room for every interest.

Twenty years of
curiosity & dialogue

Dear Esteemed Delegates, Faculty Advisors, and Partners,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the twentieth session of the University of Toronto Model United Nations, taking place from Thursday, February 11 to Sunday, February 14, 2027, at the historic University of Toronto, St. George Campus in the heart of downtown Toronto.

My name is Daisy Zhao, a fourth-year at the University of Toronto, and I am thrilled to serve as your Secretary-General. Having begun my own Model UN journey as a UTMUN delegate, it is especially meaningful to now lead the conference that first sparked my passion for public policy and global affairs.

Each year, our conference brings together thousands of high school students from across Canada and around the world. Whether attending their tenth conference or their very first, delegates find at UTMUN a platform to explore new ideas, engage in meaningful debate, and forge lasting relationships. The calibre of our staff, the quality of our academic programming, and the passion of our delegates continue to distinguish UTMUN as a special place where curiosity and dialogue thrive.

As we celebrate twenty years of excellence, UTMUN 2027 will build upon two decades of tradition while continuing to innovate and expand the possibilities of what Model UN has to offer. From our 34 unique committees to our distinguished speakers, corporate partnerships, and comprehensive background guides, every aspect of the conference is thoughtfully crafted to deliver an unparalleled experience for delegates and advisors alike. As a leading global institution, the University of Toronto attracts some of the brightest and most accomplished students, and UTMUN benefits immensely from the dedication, creativity, and expertise of our undergraduate and graduate student staff. I am confident that our team will deliver a truly unforgettable conference.

To commemorate our anniversary, the Secretariat is excited to unveil a series of special initiatives, events, and opportunities celebrating this milestone. We look forward to sharing more details with you in the months ahead.

As we approach the conference, please do not hesitate to contact our team at info@utmun.ca with any inquiries. We are very excited to welcome you to the University of Toronto campus this February. Cheers to another wonderful year of UTMUN!
