Andrew Zhao, SeCRETARY-GENERAL
Program: Specialization in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy
Andrew is excited to be this year’s Secretary-General for UTMUN! This will be his fourth year on staff, and he’s looking forward to working with the Secretariat to make this the best UTMUN yet. In his spare time, Andrew loves watching Jeopardy with his friends and being an aggressive Vampire Weekend stan.
Anvesh Jain, Under-Secretary-General, Academics
Program: International Relations
Anvesh will be serving as the Under-Secretary General Academics for UTMUN 2020. He is excited to oversee a range of engaging committee experiences for the delegates of this year’s UTMUN conference. When he’s not scrambling between committee sessions, you can find Anvesh consuming copious amounts of garam chai or settling the debate on the greatest limited overs Cricket batsman of the modern era (has to be either Viv, Sachin, or possibly Kohli). On rare occasions you might even catch him actually doing work!
Nerija Gray, director of general assemblies
Program: Physiology and molecular genetics double-major
Nerija will be serving as our Director of General Assemblies on Secretariat this year! Her favourite part about MUN is seeing delegates think of creative solutions to real world problems. Outside of model UN, she likes Jeopardy, yoga, and Lithuanian folk dancing
Emily Yu, Director of the economic and social council
Program: Political Science, Economics, and Computer Science
Emily Yu will be serving as the ECOSOC branch director this year! She looks forward to creating exciting and meaningful experiences for everyone involved in the youngest branch of UTMUN. In her spare time, you can find her playing ukulele, petting cats, and longboarding to campus whenever she wakes up late.
Arina Dmitrenko, DIRECTOR OF SPECIALIZED COMMITTEES
Program: Political Science Specialization with a minor in European Studies
Arina is excited to be serving as this years Director of Specialized Committees! She first got involved in UTMUN in her 2nd year as a Vice-Director, moving up to Director in her 3rd and now she is the Specialized Branch Director. She is thrilled to be part of this years team, and when she is not doing MUN things, she enjoys a cheeky country song or a nice meal with friends.
Sinan Van Der HoevEn, CO-Director of Crisis Committees
Program: International Relations Specialist with a focus in International Economy
Sinan van der Hoeven will be serving as a co-director of Crisis Committees this year. He promises that he always has something up his sleeves to keep delegates on their toes and is excited for the delegates to tackle the many crises that his staff are cooking up. Aside from MUN, Sinan enjoys befriending random cats on the street, pursuing his hobby of film photography, and wasting hours trying to create the perfect playlists on Spotify.
Nicole Shi, Co-director of Crisis Committees
Program: Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics
Nicole Shi, UTMUN 2020’s Co-Director of Crisis! She dreams of meeting her favourite philosopher and ideal renaissance man, Michael Sandel, and hopes to work in the field of public service in the future. Her favourite activities outside of school involve watching 2000’s rom-coms, playing tennis, and spending time with her friends. One of her favourite things about crisis committees is seeing delegates fully engaged in the role they are playing.
MIKE Morris, Under-Secretary-General, Internal
Program: Physics, Statistics, and Math
Mike is thrilled to be returning to the UTMUN secretariat this year as our Under-Secretary General Internal! Outside of Model UN, Mike is involved with student government at the university, serving on the board of the UTSU, and is a passionate hockey fan. As USG Internal, he enjoys the logistical side of the conference, and aims to ensure the weekend runs smoothly for everyone involved.
Andrea Gonzalez, Director of Finance
Program: Mechanical Engineering
Andrea is excited to serve on Secretariat this year as Director of Finance. In her spare time, she enjoys rock climbing, biking and cooking. Her favourite place in Toronto is the AGO and her favourite coffee shop is Jimmy's on McCaul. She highly recommends that you check both of them out if you get the chance!
Davis Haugen, Director of OPERATIONS
Program: Rotman Commerce
Davis Haugen is the director of Logistics for UTMUN 2019 and is extremely excited to be a part of this year’s Secretariat. She has been part of UTMUN for the last three years, tackling a range of committees from the Lebanese Civil War to Appanage Russia. She also is extensively involved in various clubs and organizations around campus, and enjoys writing poetry in her spare time. Yet, above all, her two chief passions in life are Starbucks coffee and colour coded charts.

Alison Dudu, Under-Secretary-General, External
Program: International Relations and Economics
Alison is excited to serve as this year’s Under-Secretary General External, assisting the Secretary-General in conference affairs and overseeing parts of the UTMUN Secretariat. In her spare time, you can find her trying to pet all the dogs she sees on campus or in line at the nearest Starbucks.
InAara Latiff, CHARGée D'AFFAIRES
Program of Study: Majoring in health and disease with a double minor in immunology and physiology
Inaara is this year’s Chargé D’affaires and will be overseeing registration. She continues to be a competitive delegate alongside the university’s competitive team as well as being the General Training Director. In her spare time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, exploring Ontario and binge watching The Office.
Ruvanya Kasturiarachchi, Director of public relations
Program: Major in International Relations with a double-minor in Philosophy and Practical French
Ruvanya is looking forward to serving as our Director of Public Relations! She has spent over 6 years developing her oral advocacy skills and gaining knowledge on international affairs - this inspired her to pursue an International Relations major. When she’s not trying to find new instagram or poster hacks, she enjoys exploring the cafes of Toronto with her friends, or binging Netflix (her newest obsession is How I Met your Mother)
SABRINA CRUZ, Director of Design & BRANDING
Program: Specialist in Mathematical Applications in Economics and Finance
Sabrina is excited to be our director of design and branding for UTMUN’s 2020 conference. This is her first time being involved in the world of model UN and she is excited with what she has found. She is excited to make the 2020 conference our best one yet!
In her free time, she is trying to start a bullet journal. Will she succeed? Probably not.
